Privacy Policy

How we handle your daily memories, notes, voice recordings, photos, tasks, optional Google Drive backups and advertising.

Effective date: 23 October 2026  ·  Last updated: 23 October 2026
Publication note (remove before going live): This is a detailed draft based on DayMemory's planned features, not a verification of its actual implementation. Confirm the legal identity and provide an appropriate privacy contact method before publishing, audit installed SDKs and network traffic, and revise all conditional statements before publishing. Do not claim encryption, automatic sync, on-device transcription or deletion behaviour until tested.
Privacy at a glance
  • DayMemory is designed to work without an account, storing memories locally on your device.
  • Connecting Google Drive is optional and allows backup, restoration and synchronisation, if enabled in your version.
  • Ads support the free app. Advertising partners may process technical identifiers and usage information subject to your choices and applicable law.
  • Supporter membership removes ads while active; it does not make your memories available to other people.
  • You can manage permissions, backup connections, privacy choices, and local data through the app and device settings where available.

1. Overview and scope

This Privacy Policy describes how DayMemory ("DayMemory", "we", "us", "our") handles information when you use our Android or iOS application, access related support, connect Google Drive, or use optional advertising-supported and paid features.

DayMemory is intended for recording notes, daily activities, lists, reminders, photos, videos, voice memos, Memory Echoes, Weekly Stories and Time Capsules. Some features may not be available in every app version or device. This policy does not make a feature available merely by describing it.

This document applies to DayMemory only. Google Drive, Google Photos, Apple Photos, Apple App Store and Google Play also operate under their own privacy policies when you choose to use those services.

2. Who operates DayMemory

App: DayMemory

Developer: Complex Coder Lab

DayMemory does not require you to write any particular kind of personal information. Please consider the sensitivity of information you include, especially medical, financial, professional or third-party data. Privacy practices of third-party SDKs must be checked against the installed version of the app.

4. How we use information

Depending on the features you enable, information is processed to save and display your memories; manage tasks, reminders and media; locate records through search; create recaps and memory resurfacing; perform encrypted backup and restore; reconcile changes across devices; manage advertising consent; show ads to eligible free users; verify subscription entitlements; investigate security issues; comply with legal obligations; and respond to support requests.

We do not intend to use the content of private notes, recordings, images or Drive backups for ad targeting, and Google Drive API data must not be used for advertising. If the app introduces optional cloud AI, analytics or new sharing features later, the policy and relevant consent/disclosure flows must be updated before enabling them.

5. Local-first storage

DayMemory is designed for offline use. Content you create is normally held in the app's private storage and local database on your device. Creating a note does not by itself require us to receive a copy on our own servers.

Local data may be subject to your device's backup settings, operating-system controls, physical access safeguards, and loss or deletion of the device. Local storage is not equivalent to a separately verified backup. Uninstalling the app or deleting app data can permanently remove locally held content unless recoverable backups exist.

Where app-lock or device encryption features are enabled, their scope and limitations depend on the operating system and DayMemory's actual implementation.

6. Google Drive connection, backup and sync

Optional connection

You can use DayMemory without Google Drive. If you choose to connect a Google account, DayMemory requests the minimum Google permissions necessary to locate, create, read, update or delete app-related backup and synchronisation files within the authorised scope. The precise permissions are displayed by Google during authorisation.

Backup discovery and recovery

When you connect Drive, DayMemory may check for existing compatible backups and display backup dates, sizes, available data and recovery choices. If both local and cloud records exist, the application may present restore, merge, or preserve-local choices. Your selections determine what changes are applied. Restore operations should not silently replace existing local records.

Data transferred

Backup or synchronisation may transmit selected note records, task data, metadata, attachments, audio, photos and videos from your device to your own Google Drive account. Where end-to-end-style client-side encrypted backups are implemented, encryption occurs before upload and recovery requires an appropriate key or passphrase. Confirm the actual encryption implementation before publishing this claim as a guarantee.

Google limited use disclosure

DayMemory's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements where applicable. Information obtained through Google Drive access is used only for the user-facing backup/sync functions you authorise and is not used to serve advertisements or sold to data brokers.

Disconnecting or deleting cloud data

Disconnecting Google Drive stops future authorised sync after credentials have been revoked or removed, but it may not automatically delete existing backup files in Drive. You may be able to delete DayMemory backup files through the application's backup management tools or your Google account controls, depending on the storage scope. Please confirm which controls are available in the released version. Cloud deletion may propagate across synchronised devices; review warnings before confirming.

Google Drive usage may count toward your account's storage allowance and is also subject to Google's terms and retention practices.

7. Camera, microphone, photos and other permissions

DayMemory requests camera access only when you choose camera-related features; microphone access when recording voice; photo/video or file access when you import or attach media; and notification permission when reminders are enabled. We aim to use system media pickers that let you select specific files instead of providing unrestricted photo library access.

Imported files may be copied into DayMemory's private storage. Deleting an attachment from a memory is intended to remove its in-app association or managed copy, not the original file from Apple Photos, Google Photos or the device gallery. This behaviour must be verified for each attachment type and platform.

Voice transcription, OCR and AI-assisted summaries may depend on the available device capabilities. The released application must disclose any remote processing separately if an implementation sends recordings, images or text to an external service.

Camera, microphone and photo access can generally be changed in your device's settings; restricting permission may disable the corresponding feature.

8. Advertising, identifiers and your consent

DayMemory's free version may display persistent banner advertisements on eligible overview screens, native ads in appropriate sections and occasional full-screen/video interstitial ads at natural breaks. Ads should not interrupt active voice recording, private note editing, backup restoration, privacy choices or payments.

We plan to use Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads. Depending on your jurisdiction and consent decisions, Google and its advertising partners may process your IP address, device and app information, advertising identifiers, ad engagement and diagnostic signals for delivery, measurement, fraud prevention and permitted personalisation. DayMemory should not send private memory contents or Google Drive data as ad-targeting inputs.

Where legally required, the app will show an advertising-specific consent or privacy choice interface using an appropriate consent management solution (such as Google's User Messaging Platform). Accepting this Privacy Policy is not the same as consenting to personalised advertising. In regions where a privacy-options interface is required, you should be able to revisit it through Settings → Ads & Preferences or Privacy & Security.

On iOS, if applicable tracking occurs, the app must respect Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission and the choice you make. Declining tracking does not necessarily remove contextual or non-personalised advertising. Advertising availability and type may vary by region and device.

Learn more about Google's Privacy Policy and AdMob privacy and messaging.

9. Optional Supporter subscription

DayMemory may offer an optional ad-free Supporter membership, advertised at approximately USD $1.99 per month or the price shown by the relevant store in your country. All core features are intended to remain accessible without payment.

Purchases and payment processing are conducted by the Apple App Store or Google Play. DayMemory may receive product and purchase identifiers, status and transaction verification information needed to activate or restore an ad-free entitlement. We do not need your full payment card details from the store to provide this benefit.

Subscription renewals, cancellations, refunds and billing records are subject to the terms and controls of the store through which you subscribed. If an entitlement expires, ads may resume; your notes and attachments should not be removed as a consequence.

10. Who may receive information

Depending on your use and the app's actual integrations, the following organisations may handle information for their own services or as service providers:

  • Google for optional Drive access/backup, Google Play billing, AdMob advertising and related consent mechanisms.
  • Apple for iOS platform functions, App Store billing, selected photo-library and document access.

We may disclose limited information where legally required, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business change subject to applicable law. We do not intend to sell the content of private memories.

12. Retention, backup, and deletion

Local memories: Generally retained on your device until you edit or delete them, remove the app, or reset its data. Some deleted items may remain in an optional trash or recovery area for a limited period.

Drive backups: May remain in your Google account until deleted according to DayMemory's controls or Google's tools. Synchronised deletions may travel to other devices, while independent recovery snapshots can temporarily retain earlier versions.

Advertising and store records: Third parties may retain relevant events, identifiers, receipts and fraud-prevention information under their own retention rules and legal requirements.

Support correspondence: DayMemory does not operate an in-app support message database. If you voluntarily send an enquiry through a store-provided communication channel, any information received is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to and resolve that enquiry, unless a longer period is required by law. The relevant platform may retain its own records under its privacy policy.

To remove local information, use the application's deletion/export controls where available or your device's application management settings. To remove associated cloud information, delete the corresponding backup/sync content; simply deleting the app may leave Drive backups intact. If DayMemory later introduces its own hosted account, it must provide a suitable account-deletion process and update this policy.

13. Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on your country and the nature of the processing, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export or restrict personal data, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a supervisory authority.

Within the app, you may be able to export your memories, remove specific notes or media, disable reminders, disconnect Drive, manage ad consent, or clear local app data. For requests involving information we hold outside your device, use the privacy contact method published by the developer. We may need to verify your request and may not be able to access the contents of properly encrypted user-controlled Drive backups.

If you are in the UK, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). EEA residents can contact their relevant data protection authority. Certain US states may provide additional rights in relation to advertising and personal information.

14. Security measures and limitations

DayMemory is designed to minimise unnecessary transmission of personal memories. Security measures may include operating-system app storage isolation, encrypted transport for supported APIs, key storage managed by platform security features, backup encryption, authentication controls and deliberate confirmation before destructive operations.

No system is risk-free. Your device lock, operating-system updates, Google account security, recovery credentials and backup practices also affect the safety of your information. We cannot guarantee absolute security against loss, device compromise or unauthorised access.

Never upload private information to unrelated sites posing as DayMemory support. DayMemory support should not require you to send entire decrypted journals to resolve a basic billing issue.

15. International data transfers

When using Google Drive, Apple services, advertising or store billing, information may be processed outside your country by those providers or their authorised processors. Applicable international transfer safeguards and privacy terms depend on the providers, processing purpose and location. We will provide further details where required by law.

16. Children's privacy

DayMemory is intended for people aged 14 and over. It is not directed to children under 14, and people younger than 14 should not use the application. Users aged 14 to 17 may require additional privacy safeguards under applicable laws. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 14. The age rating displayed by Apple or Google is assigned under that store's separate rating process and may differ from our minimum intended user age.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to us in violation of applicable law, please contact us. Advertising settings and SDK treatment must reflect the app's actual audience and relevant platform requirements.

17. Notifications, reminders and resurfaced memories

If enabled, DayMemory may send on-device reminders for tasks, Memory Echoes, Time Capsules and weekly reviews. Notification previews may reveal information on the lock screen unless you disable previews through DayMemory or your device's settings. Notification data is typically generated from local records; any externally provided push functionality must be separately disclosed if introduced.

18. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when features, providers, legal obligations or data practices change. We will publish the updated document with a new date and provide additional notice or seek consent where required. Material changes to the use of Google API data or other sensitive information require appropriate user-facing disclosure before the changed processing begins.

19. Contact and privacy requests

If you have questions about this policy or want to exercise privacy rights, contact:
